After announcing the Huawei Mate 40 series last year, the company has now launched the fourth smartphone of the lineup. The Mate 40E 5G is the newest offering that has gone official in China. It is a model that sits between the standard Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro models in the whole family.
The Mate 40E 5G sports a 6.5-inch Full HD+ (2376 x 1080 pixels) OLED punch-hole display. The panel offers up to 90Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and DCI-P3 wide color gamut support. Under the hood, it has the Kirin 990E processor with Mali-G76 GPU and large-core/micro-core NPUs. The chipset is capable of connecting to 5G networks available around the world. It is available with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage.
The phone has a circular ring-like camera module on the back. It features a 64-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/1.9 aperture, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture. The third camera sensor also supports optical image stabilization (OIS). The module is further capable of offering up to 3X optical zoom, 5X hybrid zoom, and 30X digital zoom. The front camera on the phone is a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture.
