It has been 10 years since Google unveiled the first-ever Chromebook and to celebrate the occasion, it has announced a bunch of new features and improvements. There is no doubt that Chromebooks have become the go-to-solution for education purposes and even many who have to work on the go prefer using them. Google is now hoping to make these light yet powerful enough notebooks more useful.
The first major and new Chromebook feature is called Phone Hub. It is a dedicated control-center that shows quick controls for managing various aspects of the paired Android smartphone. It shows the device's name along with network signal strength, battery level, and settings icon at the top. There are three big options for enabling/disabling mobile hotspot, silencing the phone, and locating the phone. It also shows Chrome tabs that you opened recently on your smartphone so that you can instantly visit them in your notebook.
Google has added another handy feature called Wi-Fi Sync that will eliminate the need for entering WiFi credentials again and again. You will need to sign-in with the same Google account on your Android smartphone and Chromebook device(s). Once you do this, Chromebook will be able to connect to any of the available WiFi networks that are already saved on your Android device.
