Vivo has announced the S9 and S9e phones with 5G support in China. Both the smartphones are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity chipsets. The Vivo S9e is a toned-down version of the Vivo S9, which means it does not get some top-notch hardware specs but at the same time it does get the same treatments in many other areas.
While the Vivo S9 gets the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chipset, the S9e gets the Dimensity 820 processor. They both get the same screen size and type of displays. Both the phones feature the notch on the display, however, the size of their notch differs. This is because the Vivo S9 carries two selfie cameras, whereas the S9e gets only one. Both get the 128GB/256GB storage options. Both feature the same set of triple cameras on the rear. There is a 64MP main camera unit with an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro lens.
The price of the Vivo S9 5G is 2999 yuan ($463) for the base model (8GB/128GB). The higher model with 12GB RAM and 256GB is priced at 3299 yuan ($509). It will be available starting March 12 in China.
