Huawei has been releasing foldable smartphones for about a couple of years now. This makes it one of the most experienced OEMs in the segment along with Samsung. All of its offerings have been crazy expensive so far but things are reported to change going forward. A new Digitimes report claims that the team is now shifting focus towards the affordable price segment.
The report reveals that there will be at least three affordable smartphone launches from Huawei. These are expected to happen sometime during the second half of the year. It says that the company is looking for "friendly pricing" which does not exactly make it clear how affordable these upcoming smartphones will be. We can only expect that these will at least be a lot cheaper than what other foldable phones usually cost.
It adds that the idea behind releasing cheaper foldable devices is to boost the demand. This makes sense as even though are many people interested in buying and trying out a foldable, the majority of them cannot actually afford to purchase one. If we factor in concerns related to the durability of these phones, it becomes even more difficult for an average consumer to spend his hard-earned money on a foldable.
