Samsung to guard its upcoming foldable phones against dust and water | Tip - Android

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 2 phones might feature an IP rating.

Rumors around the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phone are continuously building up and they will continue to pile up until their launch. Now a new tidbit has arrived that talks about the improved endurance of the two phones.

The folks over at SamMobile have heard from people in the know that both the new foldable – the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 will feature an IP rating. According to the tech blog that specifically covers everything related to Samsung, the exact IP rating is unknown. So, it is unknown how much protection Samsung will offer with these two phones.

For those uninitiated, an IP rating or Ingress Protection Rating is used to tell how much an electronic device is protected from dust, dirt, and water. Different levels rate the degree of protection a device has against foreign objects. The numbers that follow “IP” have a specific meaning. For instance, a device with an IP67 rating tells it is fully protected against dust and can withstand full immersion in water for up to 30 minutes.
