Apple moved to OLED display panels last year with the launch of the iPhone 12 lineup. All four models in the family sport an OLED panel but for the next generation, it is speculated to switch to high refresh rate panels. It is now time for the fresh round of reports that claim Samsung Display to be the exclusive supplier for 120Hz displays for iPhone 13 models.
As per the Korean publication The Elec, Samsung Display will be providing Apple with LTPO OLED display panels. The LTPO display i.e. Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide tech is primarily known for offering high refresh rates without taking a toll on the battery life of the smartphone. This is a major reason Apple did not offer a 120Hz refresh rate with any of the previous models because it did not want to compromise on the battery life.
There are no words on the quantity that will be supplied by Samsung. We can expect these details to surface in the future and will update you about the same as well. It should be noted that, unlike last year, Apple is reported to restrict 120Hz display panels only to iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models.
