Reports on Samsung working on multiple foldable phones have been around for some time now. It is even speculated that Samsung might bring a cheaper option so to give this concept a greater push to go mainstream. But Samsung isn’t focusing entirely on one aspect. It is doing more research in this area and several patents attest to this fact that Samsung has many more form factors in the mind or possibly in the development too.
Now, a new report has surfaced from Nikkei Asia that states Samsung is working on a “double-folding” design which might be possible with the help of a dual-hinge mechanism. The report cites industry sources and states that Samsung could unveil the double-folding phone as early as the end of this year. The report also claims that Samsung has filed multiple patents for a double-hinged design.
In addition to this, the report also states that Samsung might have chosen a more standard 16:9 or 18:9 aspect ratio. This will also help the app makers to design apps for the phone. It is assumed that when the device would fold two ways, it will offer a more tablet-like form factor.
