Instagram is known for lifting and implementing features that are found to be doing good for other social media platforms. It has done the same once again as Instagram now offers audio-only livestreams. This is similar to the popular application Clubhouse that allows users to create rooms and interact with each other using only audio.
It should be noted that Instagram has been offering video live stream functionality for quite some time. It supports both one-on-one and group video callings. The newly added feature is simply an extension of this existing video calling functionality. It now lets you disable your phone's camera while starting a broadcast. This way, all other participants will not be able to see you and only be able to hear you.
There is even the freedom to turn off the audio if you do not want others to listen to you. It can be helpful in situations like when you have to talk to someone on a call or in your house that you would not want anyone else to hear about. There is be a simple toggle that will allow enabling and disabling the microphone on the fly.
