Google has launched its second-generation Nest Hub smart speaker in various countries of the world. It is essentially like the original Nest Hub but comes with a few notable changes. The biggest difference is that the newest model now supports sleep quality monitoring to help users get a better idea of how they are sleeping.
The new Nest Hub has an identical design with thick bezels like the first-generation model but there is a new edge-less glass on the front. The team has upgraded the audio output as it now features a 1.7-inch driver and delivers 50% more bass. This should be helpful in all situations, no matter you are listening to some music, audiobook, or even watching your favorite movie or TV show.
But as mentioned in the beginning, the biggest new Nest Hub feature is support for sleep tracking. The feature is called Sleep Sensing that uses Motion Sense powered by the Soli low-energy radar technology. It works without the need for any extra hardware or even any kind of camera. The tech is able to detect the movement and breathing patterns of the user sleeping closest to the device. It further makes use of the in-built microphones and ambient light/temperature sensors to record snoring/coughing sounds and light/temperature changes respectively.
