Facebook is the world's biggest social media platform and since it has a huge user base, there is also a lot of misinformation spreading across. This is the reason Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of Facebook, has been under pressure to take steps to curb the sharing of false information. It has now announced a new feature with the goal of achieving that.
The team has started testing a new feature that will show an alert whenever a user will share a news article without reading it. This is something that happens very commonly where people end up sharing articles only after reading the caption and headline. They usually do not read the full story and thus share wrong information with others.
Starting today, we’re testing a way to promote more informed sharing of news articles. If you go to share a news article link you haven’t opened, we’ll show a prompt encouraging you to open it and read it, before sharing it with others. pic.twitter.com/brlMnlg6Qg
