Asus ROG Phone 5 fails the durability test miserably [video] - Android

The vibration motor starts working abnormally during the first bend test.

Asus' recently unveiled ROG Phone 5 is a beast of a smartphone when it comes to raw performance. It will surely help you win the video game battles but unfortunately, it has failed in the real-life battle of durability. Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything YouTube channel has shared a video performing his usual durability tests on the phone but not getting the expected outcome.

The ROG Phone 5 behaves like most of the smartphones out there during the initial few phases like display scratch test. The first sign of failure started to appear during the in-display fingerprint scanner test. It was found to be below-par as it was struggling to register Nelson's fingerprint. It is the bend test where the device could not take anymore and fails miserably.

The first bend test showed cracking in the chassis along the antenna lines on the side frame. It even resulted in the vibration motor behaving abnormally as it started to produce a constant hissing sound. The second bend test from the front resulted in the display panel getting damaged completely but the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus layer remained as it is. The final step i.e. to apply the pressure from the back resulted in the device getting shattered and becoming non-functional altogether.

The Asus ROG Phone 5 isn't still available. To be notified when it becomse available click here.
