Yahoo Answers, one of the first online questions & answers (Q&A) platforms, is finally shutting down on May 4th. The platform will be coming to the end of its lifecycle after 16 years since its debut in 2005. The company has made a quiet announcement through a banner at the top of the website that will alert all its users.
As per the announcement, Yahoo Answers will go into "read-only" mode starting April 20th. It simply means that users will not be able to post any new questions or answers on the platform. They will only be able to read already available content until May 4th after which the website will start redirecting to the Yahoo homepage.
If you are interested in downloading your content from the website, it should be done before June 30th after which everything will get deleted. You will have to sign in to your Yahoo content and visit the download section of the website. The next step is to select answers that you would like to download and mention an email address where you will be notified. Yahoo says it can take up to 30 days for the whole process to complete and download to become available. You can check detailed steps on the dedicated webpage to help you with everything.
