Xbox Live Gold requirement removed for free-to-play multiplayer games - Android

Microsoft has officially removed the Xbox Live Gold membership requirement for free-to-play multiplayer games. The decision first became public last month but has now been implemented. There are currently more than 50 titles that are covered under the move which will allow Xbox gamers to play without having to pay anything.

It means players will now be able to play games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, Brawlhalla, and Destiny 2 without the need for membership. This will work on Xbox One and Xbox Series S | X consoles but if you play some games on an Xbox 360, you will still be required to have Xbox Live Gold. The new move puts Xbox in line with other major consoles i.e. Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

It is important to note that Microsoft's original plan was to double the Xbox Live Gold pricing. It faced a huge backlash from gamers around the world and had to retract the decision. It seems like the newest announcement is related to winning back at least some of those angry fans.
