WhatsApp debuted the ability to send disappearing messages late last year. It is helpful to users in various situations but there is a slight drawback to the feature. It has a fixed timer of seven days for each of these messages which many find to be too long. There have been requests about adding shorter time lengths and the team has finally started working on it.
As spotted and shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has now started testing a 24-hour time limit for disappearing messages. This will allow users to send messages that will exist only for one day. The shared screenshot shows the new option getting tested on the iOS version of the app but it should also land on Android devices soon enough.
The procedure for accessing the new time limit will stay the same. It is available within the existing Disappearing Messages option where you will see the "7 Days" option along with existing "24 days" and "Off" options. It is quite possible that the team may add more time limit options in the future but the one-day limit is the only one we are getting for now.
