WhatsApp has rolled out new beta updates of its app on Android and iOS. Once again, the sleuths at WABetaInfo were able to dig into the beta update to let us know what might be on the cards. According to their findings, WhatsApp is testing an option to let users change the playback speed of voice messages.
The new change has been spotted in WhatsApp beta version 2.21.6.11 on Android and the 2.21.60.11 version on iOS. The tipster was able to enable this feature on both Android and iOS and has shared the screenshots that reveal WhatsApp is, at least, testing 3 different playback speeds to fast-forward voice messages. But it is currently unknown, what steps does one need to follow to enable this playback speed.
The control on playback speed will be really helpful for those who do not want to listen to long voice messages full of fluff and unwanted stuff. They can simply use 1.0x, 1.5x, or 2.0x to speed up the currently playing voice message and listen to it faster. And the type of speed you choose will show up on the voice message UI as well, simply to let you know that the current voice message is being played at this speed.
