TikTok videos get automatic captions to boost accessibility - Android

The creators can also edit auto-generated captions.

In an effort to make the app more accessible and inclusive, TikTok has announced auto-generated captions capability for videos created through the platform. It is specifically aimed at people who are deaf or hard of hearing so that they can enjoy content shared on the app in a better way.

TikTok says the auto-captions feature will come into effect when the creator will upload the video. It will automatically transcribe everything from the video and display it when it is played. The best part is that once the caption is generated, the creators will have the freedom to edit. This will help creators to eliminate mistakes that may surface because of auto-generation.

As for viewers, they will see auto-generated captions whenever such a video will be played. They will also have the option to disable captions for videos if they do not wish to see them. It can be done by opening the sharing sheet and then turning off the caption by tapping on the caption icon.
