Google has released a new document scanner app for Android named Stack. It is an experimental app developed by Christopher Pedregal of Area 120, Google's in-house incubator. He worked along with Matthew Cowan on the project and made use of Google's DocAI for bringing smartness to the application's core functionality.
The Google Stack application works pretty much the same as any other document scanner app but with an added smartness aspect to it. One of the things that differentiate it from the competition is that it is capable of categorizing scanned documents automatically. This will help users find required documents at the earliest and without much hassles.
The first step is to launch the application and point the camera at the document to begin the scanning process. It will look for relevant information and pull it out for you to find them quickly. For example, if you are scanning a bill, the app will automatically highlight details like the total amount due and the due date for submission.
