Facebook's NPE team is here with another experimental application in the market. The newest offering is called Sparked and is described as "video speed dating with kind people". It is Facebook's newest attempt at creating a platform to help people match with potential partners and start dating. It previously tried doing something similar within the main Facebook app.
The website for Sparked reveals that users will be able to log in using their respective Facebook accounts. Once users have logged in, the app shows that there will not be any public profiles to browse, no ability to send personal messages, and no swipe support like many other apps. It is said to be a platform that is free to use and prioritizes video calling. The app does ask users some information like what makes them a kind dater and their dating preferences.
It will match users with other users for a 4-minute video call or as Facebook is referring to them as speed video dates. It means users will have four minutes to interact with each other and decide whether to continue or move on to the next person. If both people agree to continue with each other, they will get to have a second video date lasting for 10 minutes.
