Signal says Facebook banned its Instagram ads about user data collection - Android

Facebook obviously does not want users to know about these ads.

Signal, a popular privacy-focused application, has revealed that Facebook has banned many of its Instagram ads that were about user data collection. These ads were meant to help users get information about companies like Facebook collect user data and use them for targeted ads.

In an official blog post, Signal has shared a few samples of these banned ads to give a glimpse of what they could have been like. These ads are simply text-based and started with a standard "You got this ad because you're a" line. It then goes on to mention the specific data points that helped them reach a particular user with that particular ad. You can check out some of those sample ads below.

But since any ad that gets displayed on any of the Facebook products needs to get Facebook's approval, all of Signal's ads got banned straightaway. Signal further added that not just the ads, its ad account with the platform has also been banned. There are no points for guessing why did Facebook decide to ban the ads but we will have to see if it issues a statement on the matter.
