Pixel 5a 5G camera specs accidentally revealed by Google - Android

It will have the same 12.2MP camera as the Pixel 4a.

Google does not exactly have a reputation for keeping its upcoming products a secret, especially when it comes to Pixel smartphones. We have seen them leak in all their glory generation after generation but for the 2021 launch, the leaks have mostly been on the quieter side. There were even speculations that phones have been scrapped but Google quickly refuted all those claims. And now, it seems to have accidentally revealed Pixel 5a 5G camera specifications.

The official Google AI Blog recently published a post about a new Pixel camera feature called HDR+ with Bracketing. It explained the feature in detail and posted a bunch of photos for demonstration purposes. One of these images was actually found to be captured using the upcoming Pixel 5a. This revelation is based on the EXIF data extracted from that shot and another reason believe that is Google has since taken down the image from the post.

The EXIF data suggests that the Pixel 5a 5G features a 12.2-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.2 aperture. This is the same megapixel count as the current-gen Pixel 4a smartphone but the aperture count is now smaller. Thanks to the blog post, it also confirmed that the smartphone will have support for the HDR+ with Bracketing feature. We can certainly expect Google to talk about this new camera feature during the launch event.
