No new 5G bands support for OnePlus 9 series via update in India - Android

OnePlus has confirmed that it will not be adding any new 5G bands support to the OnePlus 9 series through updates. The lineup includes OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and OnePlus 9R. It debuted in the month of March and at the time of the release, there are only two 5G bands and the team suggested that a software update will bring more bands.

This is the reason many of the OnePlus fans were excited and waiting for the update to land. As things have turned out, OnePlus has now made it official that no such update will be released. The announcement was made through an official forum post where the company was answering some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs).

OnePlus says it is not possible to add new 5G bands with a software update. This is contrary to what OnePlus did in the United States where the OnePlus 9 Pro was updated and more 5G band support will be added. It is unknown why it is not doing the same for its smartphones launched in the Indian market.
