Apple has announced the new Apple TV 4K with the all-new Siri remote control. This new model has the same name but brings noteworthy improvements over the one launched four years ago. It is aimed at delivering even better video quality with support for higher frame rates among other changes.
The biggest change is that the new Apple TV 4K is powered by the newer Apple A12 Bionic chipset. It is claimed to deliver a significant boost in graphics performance, video decoding, and audio processing. It now supports HDR and Dolby Vision video playback at a higher frame rate i.e. 60 frames per second. The team has started working with different video content providers to ensure that there is more content for users to watch in the best possible quality. If you have a video shot from the iPhone 12 Pro, it can also be played at 60fps in Dolby Vision through AirPlay.
One interesting new feature is the ability to calibrate your TV's display using your iPhone. The Apple TV makes use of the iPhone's sensor to compare the display's color balance to the industry-standard specifications used by cinematographers around the globe. It then makes necessary changes to the display settings to help you get colors as accurate as possible and improved contrast.
