Netflix subscribers, it might become a bit harder to borrow passwords - Android

Netflix will soon limit password sharing. You will be able to know who is exploiting your subscription plan without your knowledge.

You just bought a Netflix premium plan and shared it with your close friends but turned out they are not the only ones consuming content from your subscription. There are more people golloping on for free. These are friends of friends between whom your password was shared and well sort of compromised too. Indeed, you are oblivious to this situation and that’s why Netflix wants to have a curb on it.

Earlier this week, a few customers started seeing a new prompt on their TV screens – “If you don’t live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching.” So, if the exploiters wish to continue, they will have to verify the account by using an email or text code sent to the owner.

For now, the “Verify Later” button also exists using which the user can delay the verification process, but eventually, they would need to verify anyhow. Otherwise, they would need to make their own account on Netflix.
