Moto G smartwatch may feature Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC - Android

Moto G smartwatch is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform as revealed through engraving on the backside of the watch.

A few days back we learned that Motorola could launch as many as three new smartwatches this year. Well, thanks to an investor presentation that revealed the product roadmap of Motorola for 2021. The substantiality of this roadmap is still unproven but we would like to go along with it until something weighty come and take over.

Well, moving on, a Reddit thread helps in developing the story further. Some keen-eyed observers were able to catch a sight of what is engraved on the watch. Referring to the render available in the presentation PDF document, the Redditors point out that the backside of the watch body shows “Snapdragon Wear 4100,” indicating the watch will be powered by the latest wearable chipset by Qualcomm.

The Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform was launched back in June 2020. It is built upon a 12nm process compared to the predecessor’s 28mm process. This is a significant jump in the fabrication process and this brings improvements in many areas. This makes the Snapdragon Wear 4100 more energy efficient because the smaller the size is, the less power the chip will consume. While announcing the new chipset, Qualcomm highlighted some key features like extended battery life, better performance, always-on experiences, and 4G LTE.
