During its recent Snapdragon Summit announcement, Motorola said that it was planning to launch a new Moto G phone that would be powered by a Snapdragon 800-series processor. Many thought, including myself, that this meant Moto G series was getting the brand-new Snapdragon 888 SoC. Turns out that may not be the case, an unannounced Moto G series phone has surfaced online that is codenamed ‘Nio’ and will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip.

The presence of Snapdragon 865 in this upcoming Motorola Nio makes a lot more sense than Snapdragon 888 as Moto G has always been this mid-range lineup. So, packing a completely new flagship chip makes little sense and while Snapdragon 865 may be a step up for the series, it is still a generation-old chip, making it cheaper for Motorola to procure. This will certainly make the upcoming tenth-generation Moto G phone a lot more enticing for a lot of consumers.

The alleged image of this Moto G10 or whatever it ends up being called, was published be reliable tipster Evan Blass on Voice. The image shows the front of the phone and from what we can see, there are slim bezels on the sides and top of the front and slightly thicker chin at the bottom. The phone is also seen housing two selfie shooters.

Motorola ‘Nio’ aka Moto G10 specifications (expected)

Among the specifications, it is said to pack 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of internal storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. The phone will run on Android 11 and feature a USB Type-C port. This phone will also reportedly support the company’s desktop mode. Further, according to an XDA Developers report, the phone will carry an unusual display refresh rate of 105Hz. The screen size is said to be 6.7-inch with full-HD+ (1080×2520 pixels) resolution.

Additionally, the Moto G10 that is said to carry the model number XT2125 will reportedly sport three cameras on the back, including a 64-megapixel shooter, a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The two shooters up front will include a 16-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel shooter.

There is no word on when it will launch but it is unlikely to happen before the end of this year.
