Microsoft is one of those select brands that have a dual-screen smartphone available in the market. It launched the Surface Duo last year that delivered the freedom of using two displays at the same time through a tweaked Android software version. However, it did not become a success as the software was not optimized properly and it had other issues like below-par camera performance. These issues are something the team is looking to change with the next iteration of the device.
The rumor mill has widely claimed that the team is working on Surface Duo 2. It is a device said to improve upon everything that the original model has to offer. The major highlights will include support for 5G connectivity and better camera performance. These changes are in line with what we are seeing with modern-age smartphones as well. This will give the second-gen dual-display device a chance to stand against the competition.
A new report has emerged suggesting that Microsoft has plans to release the Surface Duo 2 during the second half of the year. It adds that while this is likely the plan for now, things can always change with time. This is not surprising considering the Surface Duo was originally announced in 2019 but it went on sale about a year later.
