Since its inception days in 2016, Reliance Jio has seen immense growth in India due to its affordable 4G LTE plans, free bundled applications, and budget feature phone called JioPhone. The company has now set its eye on a new product category. XDA has reported that Jio is currently working on an affordable notebook currently referred to as JioBook.
JioBook is reported to be a notebook with 4G LTE connectivity and powered by Android. It will be a forked version of Android and will presumably be called JioOS. The choice of processor is said to be Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 which is an 11nm chipset with Adreno 610 GPU. It comes with a Snapdragon X12 LTE modem and as a result, the notebook will support internet connectivity even where there is no WiFi network.
The affordable notebook is currently in the prototype stage and is being manufactured by Bluebank, a Chinese firm known for making phones and other types of devices. It is getting tested with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 onboard storage. Other noteworthy features include a mini HDMI connector, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a three-axis accelerometer, and a Qualcomm audio chip.
