Instagram now lets users add pronouns to their profiles - Android

An Instagram user can add up to four pronouns to the profile.

In an effort to be more inclusive, Instagram has added a dedicated pronouns section to the edit profile functionality. It means while editing one’s profile bio information, users will now have one more space for adding their preferred pronouns.

The release of the feature is not a surprise as more and more users on social media, especially Gen Z, are now adding pronouns after their account names. It is a way for making other users and their followers aware of how to refer to them. The native support from Instagram means that users do not have to type it in their bio as there is a dedicated section for that now.

The new “Pronoun” section is available right below the “Name” section. Instagram allows adding up to four different pronouns which will be visible next to your name. There is also a toggle in the edit profile setting which lets you choose whether pronouns should be visible to everyone or only those who follow you. This is a setting that will be turned on by default for users below 18 years of age.
