HTC has announced its newest VR tracker named Vive Tracker (3.0). It is the third iteration of the product and is an upgrade over the second-gen version released in 2018. The team has focused on making the tracker a lot smaller and lightweight so that it is more convenient to carry around as well as during usage.
The Vive Tracker 3.0 is claimed to be about 33% smaller than the predecessor in size. In terms of dimensions, it is about four inches small which should result in some important space-saving. It is further said to be 15% lighter at 75 grams which would result in more comfort and easier handling.
The team has also improved upon the battery life of the tracker. It is now claimed to deliver 75% longer battery life on a single charge which in absolute numbers is described as up to seven hours. It now comes with a USB Type-C port which has started to become the newest standard of connection among devices. As for the usage, it is compatible with both SteamVR BS 1.0 and BS 2.0 protocols.
