Google Shopping app for Android, iOS confirmed to shut down - Android

Google has officially confirmed that it has indeed decided to shut down Google Shopping smartphone applications. It covers both Android and iOS platforms but an exact shutdown date has not been revealed. It has only mentioned that the apps will work through June 2021 and will stop working in the coming months.

The first hints of the Google Shopping application shutting down were spotted by XDA Developers folks. They spotted "sunset" references in the source code. This led to speculations that the app will stop working in the near future and has Google has officially acknowledged the reports.

It should be noted that the Shopping platform is not going away completely. The website will continue to be live and accessible to all users around the globe. It is the only application that will come to stop working after the deadline.
