Google Pay to show personalized ads in India but users can opt-out - Android

It will track user's spending habits to show personalized offers and rewards.

Google Pay is one of India's leading mobile payment apps powered by UPI. It is used widely by millions of users and in an attempt to deliver personalized content to them, the app will be receiving an important update next week. This new Google Pay update will bring support for personalized ads but the good thing is that it will be an optional feature.

Once the update becomes available, the Google Pay app will get a new setting section called "Personalization within Google Pay". It will be a toggle that can be turned on or off anytime the user wants. Additionally, the app will notify users about the change whenever they will launch the updated version for the first time. It wil ask whether they want to turn on the new personalization option straight away or not.

Google says if the feature is turned on, the app will start keeping a track of user's app usage and spending habits to deliver personalized and relevant offers and rewards. The company has assured that none of this data will be shared by any third-party or even with other Google products. Whenever the feature will be turned off, the app will continue to work as usual except for no personalized offers and reward suggestions.
