Apple M2 chip goes under production, launch in H2 2021 | Report - Android

It is reported to debut with the new MacBook Pro lineup.

Apple is reportedly getting closer to unveiling its second-generation processors for Mac and MacBooks. The report is coming from Nikkei claiming that the presumably called Apple M2 chipset has already undergone mass production. It will be a direct successor to last year's M1 chip that managed to impress a lot of fans and tech critics.

The alleged M2 chip is reported to be based on TSMC's 5-nanometer plus (N5P) technology. It is a slightly improved version of the 5nm tech used for the M1 chips. The exact details about the development are currently unknown but it is assumed that it would follow the same all-in-one design as the predecessor. It means it will have a CPU, GPU, and AI processor integrated into one.

It is expected that it will take about three months for M2 processor production to get completed. The official launch is reported to happen in July with commercial availability through next-gen MacBook models, most likely the 2021 MacBook Pro lineup. There is also a possibility that Apple might talk about the M2 chipset during the WWDC 2021 conference.
