Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to be the next big flagship smartphone launch from the Chinese company. While the Chinese smartphone was anticipated to launch the Mi 7 in April this year, it instead decided to refresh the Mi MIX 2 with a new variant called Mi MIX 2S. The Chinese smartphone maker has not officially shared any detail about the Mi 7 but a new teaser suggests the launch is right on the corner.
Xiaomi had launched Mi 6 as its flagship smartphone for 2017 launched in April last year. Since its been a year, the anticipation around its successor has reached a new peak since Mi flagships show Xiaomi’s engineering prowess and ability to bring new features to mass market product. On its Weibo account, Xiaomi has posted a new teaser that suggests that it will be making new product announcement at an event in Shenzen in the near future.
Xiaomi is expected to use the opportunity to the highly anticipated Mi 7 alongside company’s 8th anniversary edition smartphone. While the teaser does not offer any information on the upcoming device, it does show the skyline of Shenzhen, where the products will be made official. A recent report claimed that Xiaomi has multiple products in the pipeline and the Mi 7 will debut by the end of this month. It also revealed that the Mi 7 will be accompanied by Xiaomi’s 8th anniversary edition smartphone. There are also mention of Xiaomi launching Mi Band 3, which was spotted on the wrist of CEO Lei Jun sometime back.
As far as Xiaomi Mi 7 is concerned, the smartphone is said to have been delayed due to the unavailability of in-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and is expected to feature a notched display similar to that of iPhone X. There are also reports of Xiaomi working on a 3D facial recognition system but whether it will make it to Mi 7 is not known just yet.
The Mi 7 is expected to switch to glass back in order to support wireless charging. It is also expected to feature vertically stacked dual rear camera setup and might use newer sensors for improved photography compared to the one found on Mi MIX 2S. The smartphone is expected to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and is expected to be joined by a larger Mi 7 Plus variant. There is a possibility that Mi 7 Plus could be called as 8th anniversary edition smartphone.
