Last month, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India. The mid-range segment, which succeeds the hugely-popular Redmi Note 5 Pro, is largely an incremental upgrade. However, it still packs quite some improvements over its predecessor, notably in the camera department.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro came with the MIUI 10, the latest version of Xiaomi’s custom Android UI overlay. And now, it’s already getting its first update. Spotted by MSP, Xiaomi is seeding a new version of MIUI 10 to the Redmi Note 6 Pro.
Bearing version identifier, V10.0.5.0.OEKMIFH, the update is around 297MB in size, and brings general system improvements and bug fixes. As per the changelog, the update fixes an issue where carrier name was displayed even with no SIM card installed in the smartphone. It also fixes issues causing system to randomly crash.
Like all OTA rollouts, the update is being rolled out in a phased manner, so it may take a while to reach all Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro units in the wild.
Talking about the smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 SoC, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone features a 6.26-inch FullHD+ notched display with a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. There’s Android Oreo on-board, with MIUI baked on top.
For imaging, Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has a dual-lens camera system at the back, comprised of a 12-megapixel unit and a 5-megapixel unit. There’s a dual-lens camera setup on the front as well, made up of a 20-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor. All standard connectivity options are included, with a 4,000mAh battery rounding off the spec sheet.
