Vivo is announcing mid-cycle refresh for Vivo V9 in the form of a new color option. The smartphone is now also available in Sapphire Blue color variant. The new variant joins the already available gold and black color variants of Vivo V9.
Vivo V9 Sapphire Blue variant is priced at Rs 22,990 and will be available across all offline retail stores starting May 18, 2018. The smartphone will also be available online from Amazon India and Vivo’s own e-store from May 21, 2018. “The new Vivo V9 Sapphire Blue is a perfect combination of premium design and impeccable performance. The new variant presents our consumers with a smartphone that not only matches-up to their daily usage demands, but also their style quotient,” said Kenny Zeng, Chief Marketing Officer, Vivo India.
The mid-cycle refresh for Vivo V9 can be seen as the way to stay relevant in the market as the competition becomes even more fierce. According to IDC, Vivo has dropped to fourth in the Indian smartphone market due to stronger competition from the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo and Honor.
Vivo V9 was launched in March as the successor to company’s previous flagship V7+ smartphone. The smartphone features an aluminum unibody design along with a 6.3-inch notched display. The smartphone sports an IPS LCD display featuring a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone runs Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The Vivo V9 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. It also supports expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card slot. The Vivo V9 also offers dual rear cameras with a primary 16-megapixel sensor and secondary 5-megapixel sensor along with phase detection autofocus and dual-LED flash. It also offers a 24-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and support for 1080p video recording.
Vivo V9 features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports connectivity features including WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE. The smartphone is backed by a 3,260mAh battery, uses microUSB for charging but lacks support for fast charging. The smartphone can now be purchased in gold, black and sapphire blue color variants.
