Samsung has introduced a new 50MP ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor, which offers bigger pixels and a larger sensor size than its predecessor. It is 1/1.2-inch in size and accommodates bigger (1.4 microns-sized) pixels.
The key highlights of the new GN2 sensor are improved auto-focusing through Dual Pixel Pro technology, powerful staggered HDR, Smart ISO Pro. The sensor supports full HD videos at 480 frames-per-second (fps) or 4K at 120fps, and 8K at 24fps videos as well. The GN2 also supports pixel-binning to deliver 12.5MP pictures.
Samsung touts the ISOCELL GN2 is Samsung’s first image sensor to offer Dual Pixel Pro, an upgraded version of phase-detection autofocus. Samsung touts it to be the company’s “most advanced phase-detection auto-focus solution yet.”
