Samsung Galaxy J6 is now expected to be the first smartphone in the Galaxy J-series to get Infinity Display design seen on company’s premium Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and mid-range Galaxy A series smartphones. The smartphone had leaked in the form of hands-on image a day back and now, it has made its way to the internet in the form of renders as well.
These leaked renders further confirm that the Galaxy J6 will feature a flat Infinity Display design similar to that of Galaxy A8 (2018), Galaxy A8+ (2018) as well as the mid-range Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+. The switch to Infinity Display design with taller display and thinner bezels means that the fingerprint sensor has been moved from the front to the rear of the device. However, the Galaxy J6 is not expected to switch to metal unibody design just yet. The back of the device will be plastic but Sammobile notes that it won’t be removable unlike its predecessors.
One of the change between the Galaxy J6 and that Galaxy A8 and Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S9 is that the J6 still has some bezels surrounding the display. However, the idea seems to be to offer an immersive viewing experience with taller display in the budget price segment. The Galaxy J6 with Infinity Display is expected to feature a 5.6-inch AMOLED display and might offer Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It is expected to be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7870 processor and might retail in option for either 2GB, 3GB or 4GB of RAM depending upon the market.
The Galaxy J6 is also expected to be offered with 64GB storage and a microSD card slot for expandable memory. On the camera front, it is tipped to feature a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera with LED flash at the front as well as rear. The smartphone will support dual-SIM connectivity, 4G LTE and will be backed by a 3,000mAh battery. The Galaxy J6 is said to run Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.0 and support facial recognition.
There is no clarity when Samsung plans to make the Galaxy J6 official. It is said to retail first in Europe before making its way to other markets. The Galaxy J6 should be Samsung’s effort to curtail the growth of Xiaomi and Honor in core markets like India.
