Oppo has officially announced ColorOS 11 as the newest Android custom skin for its devices. It is based on Android 11 and is a direct upgrade over ColorOS 7.2. The jump of the OS number is intentional and is meant to make it easier for users to know which ColorOS version is based on which Android version going forward.
ColorOS 11 comes loaded with a bunch of features with a special focus on the customization aspect. There is a new "All-around Customization" feature that will let users create their custom Always-On Display style, themes, ringtones, and wallpapers among other things. The AOD customization is limited to those Oppo devices that come with an AMOLED display panel.
Dark mode has become a common feature among modern smartphones and apps. Oppo is taking it one step further by offering customization even with dark mode. It will let users choose from Enhanced, Medium, or Gentle dark mode that will lead to pitch dark, Blue dark, and Gray dark theme respectively. It is essentially a way to help users choose their desired level of dark theme intensity on the phone. They can further whether wallpapers and app icons should be adjusted to the selected dark mode or not.
