Earlier this year, Oppo launched the F7 smartphone with a notched display and 25-megapixel front camera. At the launch event, the company also teased that it will be launching an affordable variant of the Oppo F7. Now, a leaked promotional video from Myanmar hints that the new smartphone will be called Oppo F7 Youth. Specifications and details about the “Youth” edition have also surfaced.
Based on the leaked video (courtesy of Yugatech) the Oppo F7 Youth will come with a single rear camera, and will be launched in Diamond Black color option. The leaked video also hints that the smartphone will miss out on a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication, and will feature face recognition instead.
There is no word on the screen size and whether or not it will also feature a display notch like the Oppo F7. However, a closer look at the video hints that the phone looks quite similar to the Oppo A3 that was launched in April.
Just like the Oppo F7, the Youth edition will also gain AI capabilities for the selfie camera, which will bring machine learning (ML) and scene recognition to help you click better selfies. While details about specifications are missing, if the smartphone is anything similar to Oppo A3, it could be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM.
In the software department, it could run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with Color OS custom UI on top. And to keep things ticking, leaks hint that it will come with a 3,400mAh battery, but won’t feature any fast charging capabilities. In terms of pricing, the Oppo F7 Youth could set you back by $260 (approximately Rs 17,500). However, there is no word on launch date or availability at the moment.
