OnePlus has launched OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition smartphone in India. The regular variant of the smartphone was first announced at the global event in London yesterday and now the company has officially introduced the smartphone alongside Avengers model for the Indian market. The smartphone will be available exclusively on Amazon India and it builds on the success formula of its predecessors, OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5.
OnePlus has emerged as one of the most popular brand in the premium smartphone segment in India. According to analysts, OnePlus 5T was the most popular smartphone in the premium smartphone segment during the first quarter of 2018 while OnePlus was second only to Samsung. With OnePlus 6, the Chinese company will attempt to regain that top spot from Samsung once again.
OnePlus 6 is priced at Rs 34,999 for the base model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The high-end variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at 39,999. The company did not reveal the official price of the variant with 256GB storage. OnePlus 6 will go on first sale exclusively for Amazon Prime members on May 21. It will be available for general consumers starting from May 22. Ahead of the launch, Idea Cellular had announced that customers will get Rs 2,000 cashback and additional 10GB data with select tariff plan.
OnePlus 6 brings major redesign to OnePlus flagship with the company now switching to metal and glass design. The OnePlus 6 features an alumnium mid-plate covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 at the front as well as rear. The smartphone now seems as premium as the flagship smartphones from Apple and Samsung. The design also sees new elements like the alert slider being moved to the right hand side of the smartphone.
The OnePlus 6 now features a larger 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The display also gets a notch similar to Oppo F7 and iPhone X but can be hidden from within the software. The smartphone is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC clocked at 2.8GHz and Adreno 630 GPU. The smartphone will be available in three storage options: 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 8GB RAM with option for either 128GB or 256GB internal storage.
OnePlus 6 also gets minor improvements in the camera department. The smartphone features a combination of 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual image sensors. Interestingly, OnePlus 6 says that both the sensors have same focal length and have wider f/1.7 aperture. One of the major addition this time around is optical image stabilization, which should aid in taking stable shots in low-light and ability to shoot slow-mo videos at 480fps. There is also a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies with f/2.0 aperture, auto HDR and electronic image stabilization.
On the connectivity front, OnePlus 6 gets WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and 4G LTE. It sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, comes in midnight black, mirror black and silk white colors and retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo based on OxygenOS out of the box and the company will release Android P beta in the next few days. The OnePlus 6 retains the same 3,300mAh battery and supports fast charging via Dash Charge technology.
OnePlus also launched OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition which basically retains the same specifications but it seems minor design tweaks. The Avengers Edition of the smartphone features the same design with glass back but gets OnePlus logo and Avengers logo in gold color accent. It also has a textured alert slider in gold color as well. Apart from those minor design change, the Marvel Avengers Limited Edition comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. It is priced at Rs 44,999 and comes with Iron Man back cover. The smartphone will go on open sale from May 29.
