OnePlus is all set to launch its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 6 at its global launch event in London today. The device has been one of the most anticipated devices of the year with the company banking on the anticipation to generate hype. OnePlus has managed to keep us excited about the launch of the device with a regular dose of teases and forum posts talking about the upcoming features in the upcoming smartphone. With the launch event hours away, let’s recap everything that we know about the OnePlus 6.
One of the most discussed and rather debated aspects of the upcoming smartphone has to be its device. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau started the discussion towards the end of March by sharing his thoughts about the screen. The company revealed that the OnePlus 6 will come with a notch and boy, oh boy, a majority of customers shared their criticism of the decision. The company pointed out that it will offer its users an option to hide the notch by blacking it out using the software.
OnePlus had to take down the notch announcement tweet because of the harsh feedback that it received in response. The company went on the reveal that OnePlus 6 will come with a headphone jack and a glass back in its pursuit of a better design. It will also be one of the first devices from the company to come with water resistance.
Though, even after all the careful teasers aimed at limiting the leaks, Amazon Germany accidentally revealed high-resolution images of the render of the Mirror Black and the Midnight Black color variants of the OnePlus 6 showing the design details. It also teased new functionalities to the Alert Slider including “Slide to Focus” which is likely to assist users in operating the camera.
Talking about design, the company also teased an image of the device with the textured back while teasing the launch of Avengers Infinity War edition.
The company also revealed that it will put Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 in the OnePlus 6 along with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
Leaks on the internet have pointed out that the device will come with a 6.28-inch AMOLED display. It is likely that the company will pack a dual camera setup with 20MP and 16MP sensors on the rear and a 16 MP camera sensor on the front for selfies. The camera is expected to come with a super slow motion video function after the company teased it on its website. It also revealed that OnePlus 6 buyers will have the option to install Android P Beta version on the first day when they get the device.
The device will be launched globally on May 16 at the global launch in London while the India launch will happen on May 17 at the launch event in Mumbai.
