Oculus Quest 2 all-in-one VR headset launched for $299 - Android

It is the second-gen standalone VR headset by Oculus.

At the Facebook Connect online conference, Facebook has taken wraps off the Oculus Quest 2. It is an all-in-one and standalone virtual reality (VR) headset meant to make VR tech far more accessible and affordable. It is a direct successor to the original Quest released in 2018. The new model improves on everything that the first-gen model had to offer including the pricing.

The Oculus Quest 2 features a two-tone design that gives it a premium feel. It is claimed to be 10% lighter than the original version which should make it more comfortable to wear for a long duration. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform with advanced AI capabilities. The processor is paired with 6GB of RAM for delivering faster and smoother app launches and user experience.

The display on the VR headset has a resolution of 1832 x 1920 pixels per eye. It is claimed to be the highest resolution ever on any Oculus VR headset. In comparison to the original version, it offers 50% more pixels for a sharper image and video quality. It is also capable of supporting content at a 90Hz refresh rate. The high refresh rate is currently limited to first-party apps like Explore, Browser, Store, and Oculus TV but will also be expanded to third-party developers.
