Huawei is back with another budget-friendly Y-series smartphone with the full front-facing display. Today the Y5 Prime 2018 officially listed on Huawei's website to confirm it is official now. In last few weeks or so we have a number of renders of Y5 2018 which confirms design and later on its TENAA listing confirms specs sheet. Starting with the design, the device features single rear snapper with LED flashlight. Up front, the device has on-screen navigation button so it lacks fingerprint scanner. As a security feature, the device has facial recognition. The power and volume rockers are on the right edge. Being a budget-friendly smartphone it doesn't have extremely thin bezels but still thin enough to fit in a 2:1 display.
The Y5 Prime 2018 is featuring a 5.45-inches display with HD+ screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The listing didn't reveal the chipset under the hood but as per TENAA listing the device has a quad-core chipset with a clocking speed of 1.5Ghz, this indicates most likely it will be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 450. The chipset is accompanied with 2GB RAM and built-in native storage is 16GB, it can be further expanded using MicroSD card. The camera sensor on the rear is 13MP whereas the front-facing camera is 5MP. There are two variants with single SIM and dual-SIM support. As OS the device is pre-installed with Android Oreo 8.1 with EMUI 8.1 skin over it.
A 3,020mAh battery cell is on board to keep its lights on. The device dimensions are 146.5 x 70.9 x 8.3mm and it is amongst the lighter smartphones with 142g weight. It will be available in three striking colors including Gold, Black, and Blue.
