As the smartphone displays have begun getting massive, battery life is one of the growing concerns of the smartphone users. We are experiencing an ever-growing number of apps using the dark modes and embracing dark themes which were thought to conserve battery life. Google’s very own apps are now offering dark or night modes and now the latest study by Google is able to quantify the impact of dark themes on battery life.
During the recently held Android Dev Summit, Google shared how the colors in an app affect battery life and how the increased brightness directly correlated to the battery timings as well. What’s interesting is the findings where we now know how different colors in the app contribute in battery consumption while the Blue takes 25 percent more power than Green or Red in RGB combination where Black consumes the least and white the most.
