BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) just launched a new plan called the “Data Tsunami”. The new plan offers 1.5GB data per day, for 26 days at the price of Rs 98. The new offer will be available across India, under the new STV 98 pack. You can check out the plan on BSNL’s online portal or by contacting its customer service.
Put together, the new plan offers a total of 39GB, just for the price of Rs 98. That accounts to about Rs 2.5 per GB, which seem reasonable, compared to what Airtel and Jio have to offer. There are a few limitations though. The STV 98 pack does not come bundled with any calling or SMS benefits. The biggest drawback though is that the government-run telco still operates under 3G data for the most part.
The Rs 98 plan competes directly with Airtel and Jio’s Rs 149 packs. Jio’s plan is valid for 28 days and offers 1.5GB data per day. Airtel’s 149 plan on the other hand, only offers a data cap of 1GB for 28 days. Compared to both the plans, BSNL’s STV 98 pack is cheaper and more cost efficient per GB. However, both service providers offer 4G speeds and come with unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day benefits.
BSNL is following the footsteps of its competitors by launching similar plans. Recently, we saw the company come up with the Rs 118 plan, which offered 1GB of data and unlimited calling for 28 days. BSNL also introduced, a dedicated IPL Plan for Rs 248 similar to the one introduced by Jio.
